Just hooked up 4x54 watt T5 bulbs to a workhorse 7

Its bright... very bright. About as bright as a 250 watt MH bulb.

Gives you a good headache when you look at them, and you see stars and flashes if you look too long. There far brighter than the 175 watt MH I have.

Both pictures are with the flash on. You can actually see the light radiating from the bulbs in the second pic.

Is it grounded?

But seriously I think you get better performance and less EMI (radio) interference with a ground plane near the bulbs. If your reflector is aluminum try grounding it.

PS if that jug of water(?) in the background spills you might see one really big flash!

They are grounded, I just set them up quickly on the floor to make sure the bulbs work.

By "seeing spots" I meant in my eyes, not the bulbs themselves.

I think your floor needs a good sanding and refinishing though.
