Just began trying this out last night....
On another thread I mentioned receiving a practically brand new whisper dually HOB power filter. Was at work yesterday and noticed a box of scouring pads along with our other surface prep materials. I have no idea what we would use them for. Anyhoo....
These things are industrial grade large, thick 6"x9" pads. With the consistency of scotch-brite "greenies". I brought a few home and they fit perfectly into the filter slots of my large whisper.
I cut one down to fit my smaller whisper on the 15g and am testing it out now. I seeded the new filter with squeezings from the old one. They are durable, porous and have a large surface area.
I'll report back next week with how it is holding up/working.
