Sorry to hear that.

It sounds like you are on top of things. Sometimes the unexpected happens. You might want to take a water sample to a LFS.

All other fish are ok? If so, keep an eye on them.

Best of luck.

i took some of my water to the LFS and i told them that she died and my water levels are good my pH tho is at 7.56 so i think that is what caused it, but they said that maybe the male harassed her too much :( i feel bad that she died tho

any other thoughts and ideas of why this happend?????

TIA!

I just had a black female die as well and she was pregnant. I had asked one of the ladies at petco and she said the molly probably had complications during birth and could not have her babies and that is why she might have died. so now i have a silver female and a black male so maybe the female wont die this time. :sad

Have you had any diseases in your tank recently? How long has it been set-up? The fact that you are showing Ammonia shows that either the tank isn't cycled yet or you recently had a disease or introduced new fish.

I was thinking maybe ich or an internal parasite from the Cory addition but you would have seen it in the Cory.

there was nothing on the cory and we looked at it thouroughly

plus my LFS would never sell me a diseased fish cause they like me and i get hugs from them and free food for my fish

:D

Alot of times you can't even tell the fish has a diesease. My fish are kicking the bucket left and right because of a fish that we bought from the lfs that has a great reputation for only selling healthy fish.

A PH above 7.0 is what mollies like. It wasn't PH.

They wont sell you diseased fish because they hug you?

wow... alright
Many diseases dont just go full blown out visible right away , thus they may, unknowingly, sell you it.

I'm going to agree and say the cory brought in something.

i highly doubt the cory did

so i really dont know what it is

If it is a disease of some sort and your other fish have not had any diseases in the past month or so, then the Cory brought it in. Most fish stores do not even realize that they are selling diseased fish. They get them in on shipment on Tuesday and someone comes in that afternoon and buys a fish, they won't know if it is diseased. The store probably didn't know that it had anything. Watch your fish for ich, it is the most common disease and won't go away unless treated properly.

You added the Cory last week and the molly died yesterday. That's what you said in your previous posts.

Rudy honestly it could be anything . Was she eating b/4 she died swimming funny active etc? Sometimes fish just die I wouldn't expect a parasite until I saw something that led me to believe there was one in the tank. The people at petco sound like they are very nice. I have found though sometimes they don't know everything either and we have to use our own resources. After all who know's our fish better than we do? Keep an eye on your other fish and make sure they are doing well. FWIW I'd say the issue was more likely exhaustion usually with live bearers you want 3 females to 1 male so that the boy doesn't pay too much attention to any one female.

p.s. really sorry about your fish sounds like you liked her quite a bit.

If I'm reading your sig correctly, you had 5 male mollies and 2 females? And now you have 5 males, and only 1 female? I'm fairly positive that your males harassed the female to death. And if you don't adjust the F:M ratio, your other female, and possibly some males will die as well.

I doubt the cory brought any parasites or anything if there were no signs of disease on the fish, and none of the other mollies were affected.

HTH,
Serg

EDIT: I see that maxilaria already mentioned what I posted, so.....kudos.
