Take a look at the driftwood centerpiece that I made and put in my 65 tall. It's 34" long, 16 " wide and @ 12" high. I mounted it on a piece of granite.
I'll post more pics of it in my tank when I get a chance.

Hope that piece of granite is really heavy - that's quite the piece of wood!
If you collected it yourself I'd test it with some cheapo fish (in a big pale?) before taking the plunge. I made that mistake once.

Did you have to do a little discreet filing to get those pieces to lock together like that? Beautiful spaces defined there!
I sure hope it's gonna fit through the space the top braces leave you!
Where'd you find the pieces? Lake Superior?

Yes it's very heavy, I didn't weigh it but I'm guessing the whole thing is about 35 lbs. It's actually one piece of wood and one piece of granite. The only adjustment I made was to cut off about 12" from one side because it was too long. I got lucky, the natural shape of the stone was a perfect fit to the wood. The wood came from a local lake and the stone from a small mine near my house.
I was very careful, it was a little tight going in but really no problem.

That is most likely the best piece of driftwood I have ever seen!

Pack a hacksaw and wade some local streams, Firefighter! (You might want to wait till spring, eh.)

Excellent idea wetman. I hope those old waders I have still fit. Too bad I've already ordered the driftwood for the 55.
Great piece of wood and I'm glad you found it. You cant buy great pieces like that and if you could they would cost an awful lot.
that thing is a monster, very nice though.
