i recently bought a 45 gallon tank and i want to make a background of live plants. what kind(s) of plants should i use and how many would i need if the tank is 36 inches wide?
We have a whole aquatic plants forum dedicated to plants. You might PM a mod to move this thread there. In addition, people will want to know how much lighting you have in watts and what type of lighting it is, like power compact flourescent, normal output flourescent, etc.
Yea we'd really need to know lighting specifications. Vals grow in low-high light, very easy to take care of. They look like thick grass or seaweed. Some are spiraled. These can be planted in the back and will cover everything. Jungle vals get huge, crystal vals and corkscrew vals get slightly shorter (18'24"). Giant hygro grows well in med low-high light. It has big dense leaves and grows tall, you need to trim it a lot and replant the tops though. Some people even grow java moss acroos the entire back of their tank.
