i just came home today from being gone all weekend and found my swordtail with a big piece of its body missing, and my 3 brand new jack dempseys taking turns at it ripping away its flesh, oh well... im just gonna let them have there way with it.. i feed them flakes friday before i left! you think theyre gonna move onto the next fish? i have one 3 inch gourami and 2 5 inch golden gouramis

They just might, the JD's I had were meaner than my piranha..had to take them out of the tank to a different one because they had the piranha terrorized !

I would definetly keep close watch- those long "feelers" on the gourami may prove to be too tempting. Plus, if they ae ganging up on the others when you are not around, you may have no choice but to return either gouramis for other cichlid tank mates (not so sure about what could go with three jds in a 55- check the cichlid forums) Or move jds to a different arena, um, tank.
Good Luck!
btw, how big are the jacks?

Under know cercumbstances can you put Jacks with those fish. Especially more than one. That's like feeding a sheep to the wolves.

I do believe we hinted this might happen :( ........

today at the store, I saw a three inch dempsey bullying a tank of red bellied piranhas that were substantially larger... the second they swam away from the corner, he put em back in their place very quickly and not very gently. Little guys got spunk and guts...

I can't say I envied those piranhas.
