Are Wisteria plants easy to keep? I am also wanting to keep them with Micro Swords plants in a freshwater tank with nueteral pH and 78 degree temp. I only want to add fertilizer as a last resort.

foolproof. Mine grew so much I decided to pull them out :) Also anacharis is pretty easy. Fish poop is a good fertilizer.

Yeah, my wisteria has grown like crazy. I have it in all my tanks, simply because it looks very nice, and is very easy to keep.

Mine is super easy. I actually threw half of my original bunches away and trimmed the others in half and planted the top growth because I wanted bushier plant. It grows like mad.

Bully all that. Also, once they start growing, it is really beneficial to trim off the dead, brown section that occasionally crop up. If you don't, they'll break off and start to throw off roots from their upper foliage.

If it gets too tall can you trim the ends? If you replant the ends will they grow?

Yes you can, and in fact it will begin to get bushy from my experience when you do so.
And yes, you can replant!

Thanks for the advice, I love bushy plants and when should I have to use plant food? Is there any great plant food that will not affect fish, water chemistry, ect?

Also, does Wisteria and Micro Swords have a dormant period?
i like my wisteria although its not doing too good with my low light, ive only got around 1.3wpg atm
the end bits which are closer to the light grow fine but the leaves on the lower part of the plant are shrivled
i think ill upgrade my lighting to around the 2wpg level

I use Flourish. Be warned, all ferts will affect water chemistry, they're supposed to. Just follow the directions and see how it goes from there. Wisteria soaks up nitrogen like a sponge. My Wisteria isn't dormant for anything. it grows. And Grows, And grows. And Grows...

It shouldn't too much. If you have test kits, just monitor the levels. Mostly it is nitrogen and trace elements in ferts. When you add it the nitrogen should go up, but as others have said, Wisteria ia a nitrogen sucker-upper. I would dose according to the directions and then test and see what you get. Do some daily testing and determine a dosing schedule.

What kind of kit should use?

Yep I usually pull mine up once every month and trim the bottoms off along with the roots, I will noticed slowed growth (probbably while its making more roots) for a weekish and then back to normal.

Also, what is the best plant fertilizer? I don't want any that contains excessive nitrate and/or phosphates.

The Wisteria will nip the fins of the Micro Sword. Oh wait....
As long as lighting is suffucient, you should be able to.
