high nitrites

I made the mistake of getting to many fish right away and my nitrites are high. I was told to put cycle in and let the tank sit. I was also told to do big water changes daily. None of my fish are ill at all and they are all eating and appear to be happy. Does anybody have any tips that hopefully will not cost a bunch of money to lower nitrities quickly?

Do 50% every day for 5 days and, you may loose fish due to the nitrites are toxic.

Immediate water changes on a daily basis will help a lot. Start out with 50% and test for nitrites regularly. If you have access to any gravel/filters from an established tank, placing them in the new tank will help seed it and speed the cycling process some. I'm sure you'll get a lot of good advice from other too.

Also: Check out the cycling sticky at the top of the page for some excellent information.

From what I have read on this board, Cycle doesn't work very well. More folks seem to recommend using BioSpira to kickstart the cycle and perhaps put less stress on your new fish.
