First of all, Hi! I'm new here and just wanted to show my new tank. I just planted it a couple of days ago and I'm performing a fishless cycle. It should be ready for fish in a couple of days! Any comments welcome!
I think its a 30 gallon tank, 36" x 12" x 18". Its the biggest I can practically accomodate in my flat. I was going to put in 6 corys, 8 tiger barbs, some platys or guppies and maybe a pair of angels. Do you think thats OK for the size of tank? I was going to get 3 pairs of different corys to make it more interesting. I'm not sure about the barbs either.
I think you'd enjoy having a group of one type of cory over a couple pairs of different kinds... I have an assortment and I wish I had done it differently. They definitely interact more with their own kind
I got the driftwood at my local fish shop. Its nice stuff and completley non toxic. I still boiled it though to get rid of as much of the tanin as I could. The water was like very well brewed tea after!
I think I'll go for 6 peppered or bronze corys then. I'm not too keen on albinos, I think they look better in the darker colours.
Do you think the number of fish is OK for the size of tank?
id say forget about the Angles. They are going to outgrow your tank and the tiger barbs might nip their fins. Awesome looking tank though....love the sand.
I thought the angels might be pushing it a bit, and I'm still unsure about the barbs because of the fin nipping. I put sand the in for the corys. Any other fish suggestions anyone?
Blue rams ? I almost always recommend them...lol...I love those fish...but they do need other peaceful fish to hang with...they generally don't do well with more aggressive types
