I recently picked up a brain/favite coral and an orange tree gorgonian and am not familiar with how to care for either. Can anyone tell me if either species is aggressive and if they require any special needs in terms of lighting, water movement, placement in the tank, feeding, etc? Thanks.

i believe the goragan needs special treatments. not sure what. the favaite should be in medium to low flow and feed at least 3 time a week. this is what i do.

Is the gorgonian photosynthetic or not? There are orange species of both types.

If it's a photosynthetic species, it's probably something like muricea, which is incredibly hardy. Place it in strong light and strong current, and you could step on it and it would still be happy.

If it's not photosynthetic, it should be kept out of strong light, but still needs strong current. It will need daily feedings of small things like brine shrimp nauplii, phytoplankton, and powdered/pureed prepared foods.
