in september of 2002 i attended an cichlid club meeting and after the meeting i purchased 18 cichlids with the words "african river tilapia" or somtthing of the nature written on a little baggy for 3$, not knowing anything about cichlids i just put them into an empty 10g i had bought them small grain food. these fish were soo small i mean i couldnt even see them. As time went on been moving them from tank to tank not really worring about them. well recently i got a new 55g and had no fish to put in it, soo i put these river tilapia;s in. they are mostly all now over 1/5 inch to a full inch each, and the bigger ones are starting to get some really nice color to them. But the problem is i know nothing about them, i dont even know thier real name or how big they get or anything like that. if any one knows anything about these please let me know. I will be posting pics soon soo check back, thanks alot

The only river tilapia I can source is the Five-Spot Tilapia. Do your fish have 5 to 6 distinct spots? They are Tilapia mariae from the Bandama, Bia and Kribi rivers. Can you possibly give a better description of colours, shape and markings...
