another quick 10gal stocking question :p

From one of those links you posted, it lists, "NEW! Peaceful Betta Betta imbellis... This is a peaceful betta, YES, even with each other!"

Can this be true? How do you make a fish's natural instincts diminish? I was just curious about it.

Also those sparkling gourami's look quite cute. I can't give you the answer to your question, but just wanted to comment on what a cute looking fish it is. :)

Well aparently they arent naturally like that, but it has been bred int them because of the whole fightng culture. So i guess they were able to breed it out guess. Theres more info about it in the post i got the link from, just search the forum for it.

I was thinking of making another post, but i guess ill just add onto this one. My other balloon molly passed away (sucks, he was awsome, and internal parasites suck). So now i just have 1 cory cat and 3 ghot shrimp in my tank. Heres my dilema:

I would eventually like to stock my tank as i described above, but im not sure what my next move should be. Like i said, the molly died of what im guessing was a bacterial/internal parasite (he stopped eating, got cloudy white bumps and red streaks/redness in his eyes). Are these contagious? should i be worried about my cory or my shrimp? they seem fine, and ive been keeping my levels safe. I have found my permenant source of water (regular city tap water) and im using that now.

My tank isnt cycled all the way (i dont think so at least) although tis been running for over 10 weeks ( i had some problems along the way). So basically, if you were me, what would YOU do in this position? Should i add another fish to compensate for the one that died (like getting the other cory cats), and ride the cycle out, or just stick with the cory and shrimp and ride the cycle out? If its possible i want to end up with the tank described in my first post on this thread.

thanks guys

Gourami's and Betta's are both labyrnith fish so it's not a good idea to have them together even if the betta is peaceful that doesn't mean the gourami will be. I've been told not to mix the fish since they share about the same range as territory. if you feel you have to do it I would get a MUCH larger tank and have lot's of caves and plants so they can be well seculded from each other's site.

I would say you are stocked and shoul not add any fish to your five gallon tank if you have 3 albino cory cats and 2 imbellis.

hmm, Yeah, i remember hearing that to. I wish i knew exactly what the sparkeling gouramis and peacefull bettas would look like if i ordered some. I guess it comes down to wether i want peacful bettas, dwarf gouramis, or sparkeling gouramis.

as far as the gouramis go, for a 10 gallon, what would be the best way to have these fish, meaning, do dwarfs do better in pairs or single? What about the sparkeling ones?

I would not mix dwarfs with sparkling gouramis. Just do a quick search on wdarf gourami and you'll find 3-4 recent threads about them being aggressive toward other dwarf gouramis and anabantids. It depends on the fish, oftentimes, but if you are haivng to special order fish, I wouldn't chance it.

Harlock, its a 10 gallon, or did you mean to type 10 gal? Now that i think about it, Im leaning towards the pair of peacful bettas. These are no different in size than regular bettas correct?

Woops, my bad. I meant 5 fish, 10 gallons. Got my numbers mixed up. Fighting a bit of illness and a child who didn't want to sleep as late as usual. From what I have read, the imbellis are about the same size. I cannot say for sure as I've never seen adult peaceful bettas, however.
