i know this sounds horrible, but last weekend i bought the python for my new 55 gal tank. i had just done a water change, so i didnt need it yet. today, i went to look for the instructions, and i think my boyfriend might have thrown them away. i am looking at the end of this thing, and im not sure how to make it drain down the sink. i see where it goes into the faucet, but i dont get how the other end is goin to drain the water.
if anyone uses the python, and knows what im talking about, or any other pointers, please let me know soon. i dont want to use buckets any more!~!

thanks alot!!!

Its pretty simple really. Just attach the one end to the sink. Then there are 2 options. The bottom of the device that attaches to the sink can be opened or closed. If its open it will drain, if its closed it will fill your tank. To open or close just twist the bottom open or closed kind of like a jar top except upside down. Kepp in mind that it never comes off completley

Amber, calm down.
On the bottom of the faucet piece there are little arrows showing up & down for fill or drain, look closely, see them? It is just a simple twist up or down on the bell shaped end of the faucet attachment, got it? Goodluck.

In a related vein, as a non-python owner/potential buyer, does all of the gunk you vacuum out of your tank just go into your sink, or can you place the outlet someplace else?

it goes into the sink or wherever its attached to...need to be some sort of faucet. You could put a bucket under the faucet if you were concerned about that stuff going into your sink...but its never anything too bad. As a side note...I couldnt imagine cleaning my fish tank without the Python...its awesome.

thank you all so much. i think i did alright, besides the draining part. am i supposed to hook it up to the sink to drain it too? i think thats what i was supposed to do. i couldnt figure out what else to do, so i let it sit in the sink....bad idea, it went everywhere when it fell out and i didnt know about it. when i was putting the water into my tank, it kind of looked cloudy. could my water be bad?? i'll test to see what comes up. it was a little bit of a P.I.T.A, but i think i will get better at it each week. thanks again every one!!!

Just hook it up to the sink to drain and fill, its too easy.
Yes, all the unwanted particulate matter goes right down the drain, kitchen bathroom, laundry room it doesn't matter, if your concerned about odor or some such just follow with a little drano or bleach afterwards.

It goes down whatever it is attached to. If you use a sink, it goes down the sink. If you connect it to a hose out in your yard (I like this method, free fertilized water... I live in a drought-stricken area) then it simply drains on your lawn.

i love my python. so much easier to clean the substrate.
