I found this add in the classifieds this morning and I was wondering if this is a good deal or not
"AQUARIUM-55gal, fresh water, with all accessories, set up to see, 2 lrg Oscars & 3 plecos, includes stand, $250 obo"

My dad likes oscars a lot and my lfs will accept "overgrown" plecos...

I haven't called yet so I don't know what type of filter/lighting it has, how old the set up is etc. but I'll try and find all that out soon. This may seem somewhat silly but, I have no clue of the dimensions of a 55gal so I don't even know if I have room for it in my condo...kinda like putting the cart before the horse huh? lol. How much did you guys pay for your new 55 gal set ups? I know a lot of people here have 55's.

I'm hoping they'll agree to take $200 for it instead of $250...

well, thanks for you time...
Steph

things to look out for...

Could someone tell me some things to look out for when I go look at it?

Make sure all the equipment is working properly. Check the tank for any cracks/leaks (although there shouldn't be any since it is filled with water and fish). Make sure the trim is on good. Check for scratches, it's personal preferance here, you will be the one looking at the tank.

I bought a brand new 55 gallon with tank/nice wood stand/lights for $225.00 back in October. I then probably spent another $180.00 on filters and accessories............not including fish. So, depending on the condition, type of stand, etc. it sounds like a good deal to me!
