In my current 75 gallon tank I have 3 firemouths, and a school of giant danio's.

One firemouth is bigger than the other two (bigger one is about 3.5" and the 2 little guys are about 2.5"), so naturally it dominates but I am afraid it dominates a little too much. I have pots and plants and places for them to hide in and have their own little territory, but no matter where the 2 little guys try to hide, the big one just comes around and seeks them out and chases them constantly. So now the two little guys are hanging out at the tops of my plants. I am kind of worried because I feel by them being chased so much it has stressed them out and they aren't growing really all that fast. I know FM's don't grow fast but I should see some improvement to size after about 2 months right?

I’m thinking maybe dividing the tank for a while until they grow up a little bit more. Would this be wise or no? Also I was very tempted on buying another one today to maybe see if it would balance it out but I figured that it might cause more problems.

Just incase it matters, my water parameters are 7.0 PH, 50-120 hardness, 0 readable nitrate and nitrite.

Sorry so long. Lemme know what you think

It could be that both of the smaller FM's are female and the bigger one is a male. If that's the case, in another month or so, get ready to be a granddaddy! :D This was the EXACT type of behaviour my Green Terrors engaged in for months. It got to the point where I was ready to separate them in different tanks because of the constant chasing. A few months passed and lo and behold, babies galore!

well hey that's good news! :dance I hope this is the case with my guys

yea so just let them do their thing I guess. I just didn't want the big guy almost killing the other two because they were getting stressed.

Thanks.
