Different types of cories together?

I have a skunk cory that I've had for a few years solitary. I'm thinking about adding some more skunks, but my LFS doesn't carry them, or at least I'll have to wait for them to come in.

Could I add other types of cories like leopard or albino? Will they school and play together if they are different types of cories?
 
I have read that they should, and in my experiences, they have gotten along. Even though some say that you probably should keep the "colors" together, it seems if they have no one like them around, they will still buddy up. In fact, I have an albino, a bronze, and a peppered in a 15g together and they are always chasing eachother around :)
 
Maybe because jenny only has one of each they play together, but mine don't really at all. Maybe once a month I see my Bronze cory messing around with the 3 Peppered corys. Other than that he hangs out on his own, rarely playing the cat and mouse games that they usually play.
 
Cories IMO do much better in a type specific shoal compared to just a couple of of each, they will exhibit much more group interaction and play.
I advise you be patient and get more Skunks ;)
 
Ok, thanks for the advice.

Which situation would be better:

Getting an albino, leopard, and bronze cory to add to my one skunk.

OR

Getting 3 leopards to add to my one skunk.

Jenny said that she has all three different cats in her tank, and they play together. Congeal said that her three peppered doesn't play with her bronze cory. I'm thinking if I get 3 leopards, then they will play together, but might make my skunk a loner. But if I get all different types, then they might not play w/ each other at ALL.
 
the different types will interact iether at random or thru what I would guess to be a need for numbers, they are happier in shoals (groups).
I personally would either wait for more Skunks or trade the Skunk in and get all one type, just my $0.02.
 
I personally don't want to trade the skunk in b/c I've had it for over 2 years now, and it is probably at least 2 inches in legnth. Do you think that a smaller young cory will play with my older and bigger cory?
 
Your mature Cory will only see another Skunk Cory, they are not aggressive towards smaller younger Cories.

So you say that they won't pay any attention to like an albino or leopard cory I might add?
 
I've got 3-4 species of cory's in my 55 gallon tank (haven't done complete inventory in a while so I'm really not sure what's still alive in there). They will school with other kinds of cories, but they do tend to hang out with just their kind. I had only one panda cory though and he used to hang out with the striped cories.
