Will this work? 20g w/betta, 5 Pristella & 3 gold platy?

Betta and 2 dwarf cories are in the 2.5g now. I have a 20g w/2 dwarf neon gourami (one I had to take out cause the other one injured his eye by poking him), 5 pristella tetra and 3 gold platy.

What I want to do is put the betta & cories in the 20g, give the mean gourami to my hubbys' work for their tank and put the one eyed gourami in the 2.5g.

1. Will this work?

2. If I do put the betta & the cory in the 20g can I put some cardinal tetras in there too?

3. Maybe I could leave the cories in the 2.5g with the one eyed gourami (he is very sweet and shows no aggression at all)?

Thank you so much. I hate to move fish around but I just can't keep the mean gourami. (he also managed, as far as I can tell, to eat 4 of the cardinal tetras I had in there)

your ideas for the 20 gallon all seem resonable. I would watch the gourami you plan on putting in the smaller tank with the corie to see how he reacts to the smaller space. Some fish markedly react to the restriction of territory and act a little more agressively in that smaller space.

I wouldn't put it past the betta to try to eat neon or cardinal sized fish himself. It just depends on his personality as to whether he will try to go after them. Bettas are just so variable from one to another that you just can't say what one will do, but a friend of mine had one that ate neons. My betta is so laid back that he doesn't even flare at a mirror; he is much more interested in me than the other fish that apears to be in the tank.

Thanks. The gourami has been in this approx 1g bowl (as i can't afford a new tank right now) for almost 2 wks now while nursing him back to health. It has been a struggle to watching him and not being able to do much to help and also to keep him warm enough. It has work as his eye (although gone) has healed and he is eating and pooping. Will be doing the transfer by Friday at the latest.

I will put the betta in and see how he does in the new home first before I put in any cardinals.

Thanks again!

Danielle,
I would not worry to much on the adding betta to the 20 gallon. HE should be fine, if he hasn't bullied the cories in such a small tank, more than likely he will not bully any cardnials that you will put into the tank. I would place the cories though in the larger tank than the 2.5 unless they are dwarf. Cories can get up to 1.5 inches in length and they do need the room. I would just keep the gourami in there by itself.
