Long story short I received a large 6" Kissing Gourami for free yesterday. He has been in the tank 24 hours. He does not look happy, he keeps his lips on the glass all the time and has not eaten anything yet :( .

To make matters worse one of my long fin Zebra Danios is nibbling away at him  . I don't see any damage yet, but clearly the KG does not like it. The Zebra is sooo much smaller then him. He sorta flinches and moves away, but not really. The Zebra is not doing it all the time, but a lot. So What do I do? Should I get rid of the offender, or is he just getting used to haveing a new LARGE tank mate?

HELP!!!

Bump for the next day crowd. Anybody?

I think the gourami needs to acclimatize to the tank. When he's settled, he'll show that zebra guy what's what. Unless there's real damage, I'd watch carefully. I'm sure that gourami can defend himself from a little snot nosed zebra danio.

Perhaps a few more zebras might help keep his mind off the gourami.

Yes, I think that more danios will probably solve the problem. Most danios are like tigar barbs and what I mean is that they like to chase each other and may be fin nippers.

I have 5 total. How many more do you think? The Longfin Zebras are the nippers not the regular ones. And they do chase each other.

I keep my danios with my angelfish and have no problems at all. I've got about 7 of them and they actually chase each other through the fins of the angelfish.
