I have been building a custom made fish tank inside of an old tv box. It's about 50 gallons. My problem is that at the top there is only like an inch or two of space between the top of the tank and the removable lid. I'm not sure exactly how I am going to go about lighting in the tank. I don't know a whole lot about the subject of lighting, so would a light on the back of the tank or on the side be ok? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanx!

most fish use the light to know what is up and down . Lighting the tank at an angle or the back may make them swim funny. I,m not saiing sideways, but a little to the side. 1" or 2" is enought space to mount low profile tombstones (the white plastic end on florescent tube ) I found mine at home depot for $3 or $4 each . They are about 1.3" high.
