I just wanted some other people's opinions about what to do with my 55g tank. Right now it is FW. I originally started doing African Peacocks and had it nicely stocked with about 15 juvy peacocks until some recent water changing disasters due to high chlorine/chloramine. After trying to restock and having the same problem, I am down to one lonely Peacock along with a Sth. Amer. Bumblee Cat, Black Shark, Synodontis, and one of those generic Plecos. I am having a REALLY hard time finding peacocks I originally had. Now all I am finding are these generic ones that are listed as "Asst. Africans", which I'm not going to waste my money one. Anyway, I also have a 10g tank below my 55 w/ 2 small puffers. One is a GSP and the other I assumed is called a leopard puffer. They are housed in FW, and I have recently found out the "Aquarium Salt" doesn't cut it for BW, so I want to get them in to BW. So here's the thing I'm tossing up:

Should I convert the 55 into BW and move the Puffers? And then if I do that I want to eventually adapt them to full SW. I will then use the 10g the Puffers were in as my mixing tank and should therefore get rid of my chlorine/chloramine problems, right? Or should I give the Puffers to a LFS whom I know pretty well and keep the 55 FW?

So let's say I do convert to BW - Can I keep using my Hang Over Back power filters until I go to full SW in which I want to use a Wet/Dry? Is the best way to adopt the Puff's to other "waters" by adding it slowly? Is there a written method to this?

And lastly, if I go to full on SW, these Puff's I read will adapt, so what else could I put in that tank?

Thanks in advance...and I might be forgetting some important questions. I'm just merely looking for some opinions of people who may have done this same thing before. Thanks! - Brandon

It's all your opinion what to do with your tanks, but I'd give away the peacock and put the GSP and the "leopard puffer" (which is also a GSP), in the 55.

OR you can give away the puffers and keep te peacock

RTR. You are the same RTR over there? I have 4 dwarf puffers because one night I was reading that site. They are in a 10g with a few plants. (Some Crypt. Ciliata that I am trying to grow out in that tanks, a few other crypts and the usual java moss and fern.)

Everyday those little devils try and convince me that are starving to death. I originally put them in there to deal with a snail infestation. I can't even find a snail in that tank now.

You have to register into the puffer forum, bt300z32.

And yes, it is the same RTR.

Yup, that is me.

Also yup, you have to be registered to read the FAQs, sorry, I forgot that. If you prefer, the same reprint is available on Wet Web Media, but I do not have the URL handy.

ALL the hunter-predator puffers try very hard to convice you that they are near terminal starvation. They do try very hard to train us. Sometimes they do train us.
