I bought ick treatment and i pulled the charcoal out of my filter as told but i have a fluval 404 and it also has a sponge in the filter should i remove the filter as well? I am not sure i have never had fish with ICk before.

I dont *THINK* you need to remove that but maybe someone else can back me up on that? Carbon definately does need removed tho.

Also, increase your temperature and add some salt.... I boosted my salt content and raise my temperature to 80F when my lemon tetras got ick and it did quite a bit of good.

You dont need to add anymore salt once you boost your salt content.... only when you change water like normal. Salt does not evaporate so what salt you put in there stays in there until you do a water change. All you need to do is add additional salt.

ok, should i expect to loose anymore fish because my pacus are covered in ICk real bad and I already lost 4 fish total...

It is really hard to expect anything.... just try your best. Make sure you keep up on that ick treatment like clock work..... and do it until the bottle is gone.... You need to keep adding treatment for AT LEAST 2 weeks after you see the last spec of ick. If you dont, it WILL come back.

I have never removed my carbon filter from my Fulval 204, plus I have a carbon filter in my rio 180 internal filter too, its true they may remove some of the treatment but they wont remove it all and I have never had to over compensate for leaving the carbons in. I've had ICH a few times over the years and trust me when I say that you will still get rid of the ICH just as fast if your treating with meds, with carbons in or not. I wouldn't bother taking out any spunge filter media either. Just l;eave your filters as they are, I know I'm probablly gonna get blasted from every1 who reads this message, but I speak from experience so I know the info is not bogus.
