I have a 10g non planted tank atm(still fishless cycling) with a whisper 90gph filter and a more than adaquate heater. temp @75 ph 7.2. I want to get a dwarf gourami, will one do better by itself or should I have a pair, if so m/f or 2males?
could an otto and 4 pygmy/panda/peppered cory cats and some ghost shrimp go good with it???

Also, if you could, name some other compatible tankmates that would go good with a gourami or 2.
thx in advance harlock, im lookin for ya :D

if you get a pair make sure it is male female. I think you could get away with a pair of males in a 10 gal but not many other tankmate since they will get territorial.

Corys will be fine but I personally wouldn't do the ghost shrimp because the Gourami's will likely pick on them as food. It really depends on the temperment of the gourami's which you won't know till you get them.

It would also help alot if you make it planted because they like to nibble on plants.

good luck. There is an older thread here that I did about Powder Blue gourami's (aka dwarf gouramis) with similar questions. I think some people also told me what are good tankmates. :p

you're not going to find females outside of a special order, simply because they're rather drab. I've yet to see a store carry them, except for online. Two males will undoubtedly fight. Get some peaceful tankmates for one gourami, and you'll have a nice tank.

1 DG is good for a ten.
