I 'm getting ready to get a new heater and undecided as to what to get.I was looking at a fully submersible with an external control and was wondering what anyone thinks.
I use Tronics in both of my tanks and love them. They've always worked perfectly. Do a search and you'll find lots of excellent discussion about the best rated ones. Ebo-Jager, Tronic, and Visi-Therm seem to be the ones most often recommended.
***Oops...just realized that the search feature has been disabled until March 31st.
I have a Tronic in my Q-tank and two ebo-jagers in my main tank. I prefer the Ebo-Jagers thusfar. They are spot on accurate and I see little fluctuation in my 29 gallon tank with them.
That last heater that went bad on me was a Ebo-Jager and it was only 15 years old I have never had one go sooner send the extra you get what you pay for.
I have a Hydor 300W on the outflow of my canister. I think I'm in the minorty, as most people have heaters located in their tanks. Mine is new but is working very well and the more equipment I can keep out of my tank the better.
I have Whispers, a Hydor, something called a Therm-O-Wave, and a Via Aqua titanium.
I like the Via Aqua the best by far. It has an external temp control and remote sensor. The tmperature never fluctuates one bit. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, however my next titanium heater will be a WON Brothers digital.
The only one that has failed me is the Hydor......I'd never buy one (the one I have came in a Wal-Mart kit).
