one of my black skirt tetras is developing some fungus on his tail fin where he had some battle dmg. I would like to move him to my q tank but right now the tank he's in is under salt treatment for ich at about 2 tsp per gal. if i moved him to freshwater again would that be too much stress or should i just add salt to my q tank? thx

Is your Q tank already cycled? BTW, 2 tsp per gallon is double the dose compared what I have read, but... I only know what I read. If the Q tank is already cycled, you could add some salt and treat for the fungus. However, if you do not have a cycled Q tank, it would definately stress a fish that already has problems. Treating the main tank for secondary bacterial infections is not a bad idea and you could snag the fungus problem in the process.

2 tsp. per gallon is the right dose for ich treatment.

I would move the fish to your quarantine tank, so your other fish won't contract the fungus (assuming they haven't yet). Just add salt to your QT using the same ratio. Hopefully you have a spare filter or sponge ready to go so cycling won't be an issue.

Poor guy... now he's thinkin'... he says/she says. Decoy, I would now say.. educate thyself. Check out a variety of sources and use your best judgement.

the q tank is cycled, but maybe i'll just treat the whole big tank tho i hate the cloudy water i get from it bleh plus its more expensive.
