So I got my prized fishy his own brand new aquarium. He is a (still small, about 3") pearlscale goldfish, and his tank is a lightly planted 55 gal. But now he looks so lonley in there, by himself. I really want to do the best things for him, but in the end, he just looks like he is bored to tears without other fish. He used to have his corys and his loaches. But I figured he is gonna be growing real soon (I hope), so it was time to put him in something bigger, and rethink some tankmates for him. I heard that corys could be a danger to him when he gets bigger (because he may attempt to eeat them), and I want something that will maybe swim around the middle area of the tank. What type of fish would you reccomend for the bottom also? Thanx

A couple of dojo loaches (aka weather loach) are compatible with the lower temperatures that goldfish prefer. I wouldn't keep cories with goldfish, because they prefer different temperatures to be happy.

Maybe even a schoal of mountain minnows, but sometimes, large adult goldfish will eat smaller fish, or just kill them and spit them out, so use caution.

Indeed, there are few fish that will enjoy the low temps that the goldgish so blissfully endure. Dojo loaches are the way to go, I believe. They get long enough so the goldfish won't eat it, and will live in the colder waters. But get at least 3 if you're going to get them, because they like to have their own company!
