Hey everybody,

I am just wondering where most of you guys get your shellies. Do you buy them locally or online? In my area I really have yet to see them. I am asking this because me and a friend are thinking about breeding them to sell. We are not sure of the species yet and I need to know if people buy them online a lot becuase if they are available locally there wouldnt be a need to spend 30 dollars on shipping. So any help or suggestions that you have are greatly appreciated. TIA.

I also see that there is a thread that mentions the availibility of them. It doesnt seem a lot of LFS carry them and that is what I am hoping for.

I've found that looking for cichlids in lfs like petco or petland or any of those kind of stores is a hit or miss proposition. That is simply not thier market. Try and find a locally owned store that sells mostly if not exclusively fish supplies. You may have to drive across town, but 1.00 in gas is better than 30.00 shipping. Ask an employee that looks like they've been there awhile if they ever get any in (better yet ask if owner is in). If you're looking to start a colony and want to buy more than just a few, maybe he will special order them. Also find out if there is a local fish club that holds semi-annual auctions.

Good Luck

find a local club, that's where a lot of them circulate. Kyle

I want to clarify my original post. I am not looking to them for myself. I am planning on breeding them and selling them online. The reason I want to know if they are availible or not is becuase if people can easily get them from a LFS in there area, then there is no point in selling them online.
