Hi All,

I bought one of these little fellows on Sat and so far so good.

As far as I know he is eating and seems pretty happy (he has lost his blotchy stress colouration and is now a lot darker). I want to be sure though
Can anyone give me some advice on the ideal foods for the Snowball.
I am assuming same as GN plecos etc ie. a mixture of meats and veg but if anyone can give advice that would be great.

Thanks
Chaz

Try a slice of zuchini tied to a rock. Umm I'd say just about any bottom feeder tabs, spirulina tab once or twice a week. Shrimp pellets. Nice pleco. I saw them but $29.00 turned me away! :)

thanks for your advice Swimfins

he (although am suspecting more that he is a she form what i read!) is beutiful. He/She cost me £35 or approx $65!!!! but well worth it.
Our fish seem to be a little more expensive than you guys over the pond. My Altums were £10 each or approx $18!

thanks for your advice will get some tonight and some pellets on weekend

I too recently bought a little snowball Pleco for my 55 gal. He (or she, I don't know) is about 2" and not quite a dark black (more like a dark grey). Once the Avatar's are back up and running on this site, you'll see him pictured as my Avatar. I bought him about a week ago at a lfs and he was $39. I've been feeding him bottom feeder tabs. (Actually I was breaking them up into 1/4's and dropping them around the tank as the other fish (mostly Tetras+a few Barbs) like to scarf them up before the Snowball even knows they are there!

Yesterday I dropped a whole tab in a little cave he (or she!~) likes to hang out in. I think Snowball hasn't left the cave since! (Chomp Chomp Chomp...) The only other fella that goes in that cave is a Red Tail Shark (about 2 1/2") who completely ignores the Snowball. The RTS actually will chase the Barbs away from Snowball during feeding time, otherwise he pretty much leaves the Barbs alone, it's very interesting behavior!

From what you folks are saying I'm thinking I'm going to cut back on the amount of food I've been giving Snowball (maybe 1 tablet in his cave once or twice a week?)
