Thought I saw this somewhat recently but the "search" button is gone. I know my jug of Prestone Driveway Heet has CaCl2 but is there anything else that isn't fish/plant friendly? I emailed Prestone...waiting...waiting...
Anyone?

I Pm'd you, but the prestone stuff is what I use. I think I originally got the idea from DJ Len. I have threatened to check into the farm supply store, I know they sell powdered CaCl for the farmers to mix with water and add weight to their tractor tires ( a tire full of freeze proof water is a cheap counterweight) I'll have to find out if it's cheaper that way. I anticipate running out of driveway heat about mid-July, and I imagine it will be hard to buy around here when the temperature is 80*F

Prestone driveway heat is great!! I just posted on the other thread as well. I use it on my freshwater snail farm tanks as well as my reef tank. I use it in place of the Dowflakes that is part of the Randy Holmes Farley homemade 2 part supplement. If you know what I'm talking about great! Either way, it's a great source of CaCl.

For all the people who browse and don't read, DON'T use the Prestone Antifreeze!!!!!!

You can find CaCl at any pool supply store. Very inexpensive.
