Hey guys, My 36 Gal tank is just cycling now, and I'm just planning on what to put in it. Tell me if you think this is a good/bad combination... or maybe too many fish for the tank....

36 Gal (3ft), roots rocks and plants. Temp 28C, PH 7.3, but currently lowering to 7. Two good concealed caves.

2x Earth eater
Blue acara
Whiptail catfish
Black ghost knife fish
Maybe-Little school of glass catfish

The cychlids will all be juveniles, so a bigger tank will probably be in order for them later. I know that earth eaters are supposed to grow slowly, taking quite a few years to reach maturity. Has anyone had any experience with how fast blue acaras or black ghost knives grow? As these fish are approaching maturity, how big of a tank do you think should house them all?

Thanks for any comments! Any alternative suggestions are welcome!

The BGK will grow far too large for this tank. Some Whiptail cats might as well. Any idea on which specific cat you are talking about here?

All should be fine in your tank while young, but do consider getting them at least a 75-90g eventually. A 125g would be about perfect.

If you want a knifefish, dump out all the fish and get an African Brown Knifefish.
