I had to run home from work today to let my dog in. A friend that works where I do lives in the same neighborhood came into my office before I was going to run home. She saw her neighbors trash when she pulled out of her driveway on the way to work and wanted me to go by and grab stuff out of it. She thought she saw a 10 gal tank and stand and lights, but was in a too big of a hurry. I said ok...everyone on the street is at work..no one will see me. SO I drive past..someone ts taking out their trash, I drive around the block. I pull up, no one is outside. I open the back of my suv...and realize all the neighbors are home, they are TEACHERS and it is spring break here
Well, I snagged a 20 gal tank, lights and a nice black iron double 20 gal stand and left. SHe had wanted me to just walk them across the street to her house. I said it's one thing if the neighbors see mee stealing smeone's trash, it's another if they see me putting in on someone elses front porch!
I went back after work to give it to this friend, and we were wondering if the people across the street saw their trash coming out of my car into their garage. :D

I called my husband, and told him if anyone called and said they saw me taking the neighbors trash..yes indeed it was me :D

There is no shame in Nursie's game.

As a side note, if ever I saw any fish related equipment out and about, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'd be moving baby seats around trying to cram a tank into the back seat of the Sable.

holy cow, your neibors must have no clue on how much stuff can cost!
if i was in your situation, i would probly keep the 20 and forget the friend! in the end i would be friendless and with fish!

In 1994, a hotel near here upgraded their computers.. They chucked about 20 486dx100's into the dumpster when they bought the brand new Pentiums (I'm talking about the first generation Pentiums here, the ones that got so hot they were desoldering their sockets from the motherboards..) Myself and about 5 friends went on a salvage mission when one of the night shift employees that was in class with us told us what they did. Keep in mind, this was when a 486dx100 was only 6 month old technology. It was a good score =)

The hilarious thing is, the Dell I have at home is 2x faster than all those 486's combined, has 10x more storage capacity than all the harddrives combined and has 6x the RAM... All for about 1/3 what one of those systems cost back in the day.

Ain't progress a beautiful thang?

Oh, and check that tank for leaks outside. There is probably a reason someone chucked the poor thing.

I'm feeling better now. :D
Some people out here can be such twits. The people who threw it out would have gladly given it to either of us, we both know them, but they'd left for work already. You never know what the neighbors are going to say, tho. :mad2

Kasa, you are too cool. Is Harlock really the best choice for an avatar mentor? Go with something more stylish, refined & dignified, like mine.

Harloc..shame on you for corrupting him, he's only 13 (at least that's his story and he's sticking to it) :p
Really, you could be much more stylin' like our friend Alfred here.

Just a follow up to the trash haul...what we did was to clean the stuff up and donate to my friend's fish club for their auction. Got $27 for the tank and light, which cleaned up like new, and $14 for the stand. Not bad! :p
