I got a nice deal on a 55g corner aquarium locally and will be starting the fishless cycle process Monday, but wanted to go ahead and start getting some stocking ideas in mind now.
Tank Specs
Filters: Rena XP2 and AC200
Substrate: Sand
Lighting: Very low
Heating: 2 Jager 150w
Décor: Extra Large piece driftwood, 2 - 4” clay pots, and (potentially) slow growing, low light background plants.
Dimensions: Basically a square with a 5 gallon triangle cut out of one corner of the glass. H24”, W22”, L22”.
I’m really lost as to what to put in this right now and would appreciate any opinions. I’ve already got a couple standard community freshwater tanks and would probably like to try something a little different with this one.
My thoughts were either Angelfish tank or maybe a few Malawian (or any colorful cichlids that would work) Cichlids, but I don’t really know if it is big enough for either. My other thought was maybe just one or two moderately large fish as everything I’ve ever owned is quite small.
Any recommendations are welcome for a good stocking solution to this tank. I’ve never dealt with a tank this large or with these kind of dimensions before.
