Does anyone think that with just a 10 gallon tank...2 male bettas could get along.....or should I wait until I get a larger tank ??
I really doubt it. I know you're supposed to breed them in atleast ten gallons, and that's with lots of foliage and hiding spots, and even then the male is more bent on mating then on killing.
You could put a smaller tank inside the larger and keep them seperated. I did that once but the water levels were too high and the one jumped into the other's tank.

Two male Bettas will not get along in any tank unless you use dividers.

Don't know much about breeding other than it is a big commitment to care for and raise all the fry until they are ready to go to homes.

I have been reading a bit of breeding bettas..it does seem like a lot of work..btu I have the time for it....my boyfriend has a great job...so I am not working right now...I would like to keep as many bettas as I can...I just lvoe betta fish I guess
Bettas are very stressful to breed. When I was younger, like 11 or so, I stupidly tried breeding them in a 2 gallon bowl. The female jumped out in the middle of the night. They're not nice fish.
I have since read up a lot on it and I think 10 gallons is the mininum, not sure about the other fish in there. Do you have lots and lots of plants and hiding spots like pots and such? I was wondering if I could breed a male with my female with the guppies in the tank, although the male would probably attack them.
Yeah it's hard to find female bettas at all, atleast around here, and so it's especially hard to find younger or prettier ones. The local wal mart actually had a shipment in of young females, so you never know where you'll find them. I got one, I think the rest pretty much died in there. I hate wal mart. I wanted to buy them all and have a community tank.

yeah I only have like one bush type thing in my tank right now...so I'll have to get some more in there anyways...I dont know what I am going to do yet...I do have a 5 gallon tank...I might even see if that will work ?? then I can just leave all the other fish in my 10 gallon.....
Here's a good site with lots of info:
http://www.bettatalk.com/spawning_setup.htm
and on there it says a 5 gallon is okay. It also has a list of some stuff you could use.

Here's a good link (http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/spawningcost.html) about the cost of a betta spawn. Way too much work and care in my opinion. Give me livebearers or cichlids anyday.
I agree to consider what you are doing before you start, consider how many lives are going to be in your hands if you do this.
If you do decide to, don't have any other fish in the tank. And make sure there are at least 2 extra tanks, so you can separate the male and female from eachother, and from their eggs.
