A few days ago, I bought a small pearlscale goldfish, and set him up a 10 gal quarentine, with live plant clippings and water from my established fish tank. Every morning when I wake up he is floating ot the top of the tank, with his fins clamped, but as soon as he notices me, he acts as if nothing is wrong for a little while. He also looks like he has blood under his "chin" (not like an open wound, more like a bruise), and it is also where his front fins attach to his body. He also has what looks like a blister on top of his head (I am sure it is not a headgrowth, because it is getting bigger and bigger every day). Any suggestions what might be going on here?

Is this Q-tank cycled? You said your water parameters are fine, but what are the actual readings?

sounds sorta like ammonia burn. what are the EXACT levels?

you also said your other fish is getting the same problem, is it also in the 10 gallon? it may be creating too large a bioload thus upping the ammonia levels.

oh yeah, sorry, all the water parameters are fine.
What are you exact reading?

Your description fit all the symptoms of NH3 poisoning.

Has your tank being cycled?

water from my established fish tank
Please keep in mind that just because you use water from an established tank doesn't mean that your tank is cycled. The beneficial ntrifying bacteria is not your water, but in the gravel, filter media and ornaments.
