mbuna and other malawians will prove to be too large and nasty (4-8 inches of aggression) for anything under 55. liike mentioned, a pair of tanganyikan shell dwellers will be rewarding a fun to set up. i have only seen friends tanks and read their experiences- check out the cichlid forums for more info on care and requirements of shellies before diving and getting some (a bad habit that I have myself).
