Hey all,

I'm trying to set up my 48 galllon tank again. Everything is working so far. I have a Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel Power Filter- 330 filter with filter floss w/o carbon and AquaPure. My water readings out of the tap are the following:

PH 7.8-8.0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
GH 75
KH 180

Part of my says that Ciclids would be perfect for the tank (there are no plants now), but what other fish would work well in that envoirment. If I get ciclids I would want mild ones (Electric Yellow/Blue), but I've never has ciclids before.

Also, I was considering getting another Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel Power Filter- 330 filter to keep things really clean. How beneficial would that be? Thanks for any help.

Since you have 0ppm for NO3, your tank is still in process of cycling. During the cycling process also measure NH3. Hardness GH is not a vital factor, even if you are keeping cichlids. Most of cichlids today are tank bred and are capable of handling wide range of hardness and pH.

There is no such thing as too much filteration.
More fileration equals better fileration.
