Before I came back, Oranda came to mind. My niece used to call my son her little Oranda because of his hair when he was a baby. :D

Thanks.

Is it typical for goldfish to keep their bright colors when reaching huge sizes? Like say over two feet?

I think Orange and/or white is very common for them to keep.... and this is strictly my opinion, but most goldfish I've seen seem to lose the blacks or darker colors unless they are born that way.... for instance the black moor..... I have a Panda Oranda and I thought he was gonna keep his black and he did up until last week.... now it seems to be fading quickly....

I know goldfish are hardy fellas, but if one was put in a pond with Bass, would you think it would survive? A large goldfish.

Corrie!

You need some attention, darling?

I would say it depends on the type of bass and the type of GF...... for sure this GF could fit into a large mouth bass' mouth.....though I'm not sure of the compatability. However, there are ponds and lakes here in Jersey where koi and other carp live harmoniously with them... so not really sure.

Really, Doll? You think this 16 inch Oranda could fit in the mouth of a LM Bass? Even with that huge belly?

Edit: Oops!

Sorry to break up the fun but I was just reading that thread of the biggest goldfish, mine is bigger than that. It isn't an Oranda, it's a Comet, but she is about two inches bigger.

I think Comets and Oranda's don't even compare, so I could see that as being more than possible, even probably..... ever posted it Beeker?

A picture of it? No, I haven't posted any pictures. I just got a digital camera and for some reason, the program keeps closing every time I try to download the pictures from the camera to my computer.

She is in my 75 gal. tank with a few other friends. I adopted them when they were smaller than my pinky finger! My, how they've grown! :D

Comets easily get larger than that, so they must be speaking only of specific types of goldfish, and comets don't qualify.

Offtopic, sorta: When I read the article they linked to, there was an error...no big deal but they said "The lack of any 13th floor in any US building." and that's not true. I actually work on the 13th floor of a building downtown and it IS marked as floor 13. I've seen some buildings that didn't have a 13th floor, but also plenty that do.

Ok, back to goldfish: Not sure if a largemouth bass could eat that one, but a pike or muskie sure could! :p
