Power outage

I had the power out at hte house for about 24 hours and couldn't get any form of power whatsoever. My 30 gal tank had no power whatsoever so all powerheads, heaters, lights, and skimmer were off. This morning the power finally came back on and I was able to get everything running again as it's supposed to.

Anyhow the tank temp is usually kept at 80F and when the power finally came back on it was down to 64F. Since the heater is running again I assume it will get back up to 80 but I was wondering how bad this was for my livestock, and what can I do next time this happens?
 
Well, it might have stressed them a bit, but if they all survived, and temp is returned to normal at a gradual rate, I don't see much harm done. . .

In the future, from what I've read, you may want to keep a heavily insulated blanket handy, that way you can drape it over the tank. Also, if you have a gas stove or propane grill, basically, anything that you can heat water on while the power is out, you can get some plastic bags, heat the water, and float them in your tank to help keep water normal temps. Finally, you can buy battery powered powerheads just for situations such as that.
