sorry, its 5AM, im bored, tired, yet cant sleep. so i was browsing and thinking about how different everyones tanks are. I'll share some funny/interesting points about mine and you can follow if you feel the urge.

Banjo Cats From Below:

I'm not sure how many people keep them, but i had to special order mine (as i do alot of my fish, because IMO a tank full of regular LFS stock is booooriiiing! ) Anyways, i have four, and i have not seen more than three at a time (usually two) since i set up my 130. I have (as odd as it sounds) a piece of silk ivy-type plant that lays flat and is burried in the gravel. two of my banjos seem to live in it (it's quite dense) along with one of my eclipse/sun cats and my wifes angelicus pictus. A third one sometimes joins them half in and half out of the gravel, but yesterday was the first time ive seen all four. I guess they live UNDER it. They have yet to stray from it to my knowledge. heh.

Silver Goldfish, or Orange Tinfoil Barb?:

As some may notice, i keep a handfull of turtles. they get a feeding of feeder goldfish from time to time wich they enjoy. gives them a bit of exercize/excitement. Well, about a year ago, they decided one wasnt good enough to be food and he lived with them for a few months and finally grew too large for them to eat even if they wanted to. so he moved in with my tropicals. He has since taken to my pair of half grown tinfoil barbs and made up quite the comical school. He almost never leaves them and mocks their activity. when they zig, he zig's, when they zag, he zag's, when they scoop gravel, he follows suit. good times. :)

The Botia 500:

I have 4 Blue Botias (Modesta) that have grown up together over the last year, from just over 1" to now aprox 3-4". Ever since they got comfortable with the tank, they like to do loop-de-loops 2 by 2 across the top of the tank. this pleases my wife, lol. on occasion, they will have a 5-10 lap-around-the-tank 'race'. The largest will start off by doing the usual looping/playing with another, then take off like a shot around the tank with the other in tow. finally all 4 join in and around they go untill the lead fish dives snout first into the gravel, leaving only about half of itself visable. the others all follow and SPLAT, SPLAT, SPLAT... 4 botia butt's sticking up at an angle towards the sky.

Pictus Problems:

I try to get pictus cats in pairs, because as far as i know, they usually like company of their own kind. NOT THE CASE HERE. we got 2 of the spotted and two of the 4-line all at once. one spotted died right away. then we rescued (i know, i know, dont do it) a pair of angelicus w/ich. they were treated and one passed. Nearing 5" now, one 4-line seems to think he's boss of everyone. the other 4-line protests from time to time but never wins. the spotted was outcast from the get. and the angelicus (although the smallest) has grown quite the ego and even HE bosses around the spotted. they all have their own cave/hiding spot. why cant we all just..... get along?

Sun Cat Wargames:

Time to time, my Sun Cats get to playing a little rough and if one thinks the other is getting a little carried away, it will "play dead". Once the victor leaves, the defeated gets back up and goes on the prowl. Theres really no way to tell the two apart, i think one may be ever so slightly larger, but anyways, i wonder if maybe the same "Kit-Kat" (as i've named them both) always wins, or if they take turns.

sorry if i bored anyone, just wanted to type something fun :)

What is special about my aquarium?

I have a VERY large angelfish that I have raised from an egg. His name is Gus and when he dies I will be very sad.

I have discus, what more can i say.

My tank has 2 Figure 8 Puffers and Bumblebee gobies at a stable SG of 1.006, ALL of which I special ordered for like $60 on the internet.

My planted is my first attempt at a planted tank, has many plants and has an interesting twist to it. It has a leopard ctenopoma, which will grow to a nice 5-6 inches and will eat all his tank mates, how nice! And I chose a 10 gallon because I decided breeding ghost shrimp is WAY too hard and the fish hardly ever moves except to strike at food and such.

My 2.5 is special because it is the SMALLEST tank I have ever owned. Only $9, too! It's also my first attempt at breeding snails for my puffers, and I've put ONE bushy plant, not sure of species, and I've never had healthier plants. The poop machines, AKA the snails, makes quite some fertilizer apparently and the plants use this and reduce the wastes to prevent my snails from living in an aquatic hell.

My 1 gallon jar/tank is not really a tank, and I use it to hold the Brine Shrimp I get. They last like 3-5 days if I'm lucky and I feed them to the 10 gallon and the 20 gallon tank for the fishes' (sp?) own entertainment. I know they aren't really healthy, but KFC isn't the best thing for my gut, either!

fancypants ;)

I say the exact same thing. Darn you MajorFish and your discus ways! ;)

this is my first post here..

the thing special to me is that my tanks have all gone from artificial plastic and silk plants to live plants.. I have quite a few small tanks because I have 9 bettas and they are much happier with the live plants. My 10 gallon was previously a goldie tank but now houses a platy I am raising from birth, 2 panda cories, 1 oto and lots of MTS.. these fish are background to the plants which are becoming an addiction. the baby platy is great at eating hair algae, has really developed a taste for it.

My 1850g tank actual volume (152L*80W*40H inches) is in my living room set into a wall with a 152L*44H inch viewing window. The filter is in in the basement so the living room is soo quiet.
