Hey, it's me again with another simple question! (hopefully)
So I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I don't have the available funds to start up my 75 gallon I purchased 2 years ago. I'm currently waiting for my 20gH (with large sump) to cycle. I am trying to think ahead to bigger and better things. Already have the equipment that it will take to at least start the 75g when the time comes.
So on to the questions.
I'm looking for a pc light that i can fit over my current tank (24" L custom DIY hood) that will still be usable over my 75g when I get it up and running. Do they make a 96w that will fit in under 24"? If not I will just go with dual 65's.
I know there are differences between the square pin
and the str8 pin (....) bulbs. But is the only thing that changes the end cap, or is the ballast and the way they fire different as well? Basically I just want to know if I can get any ole ballast that will work with pc's (if the wattage is the same) and change out the end caps in the future if needed.
Now on to the ballast question. There are many many different companies that manufacture ballasts. Me not having any in depth experience in this other than regular house wiring I don't know the differences in all of these.
When purchasing a ballast does the wattage have to be the same as what you want to power or does it throttle that automatically? Reason why I asked is that you seldom find a ballast that perfectly matches the wattage of your bulbs. Like the Icecap ballasts for instance.
I had more but forgot. Might add to the post later.
Thanks for listening again!
hope that made sense
