Would it be safe to put Ottos in a 55gal planted tank with three Pictus Cats (3-4 inches each)? I'm thinking it probably isn't a good idea, but I have a diatom algae problem in the tank and Ottos seem to be the recurring suggestion that I get. If not Ottos, is there another fish that does as good of a job with diatoms as Ottos but are large enough to not be live food?

All my other fish are non-aggressive community fish and they shouldn't be an issue.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Mike

IMO--I do not think a pictus will eat an otto.
Not sure on the diatom. Ottos normally eat soft algae.

Ok, so my research to this point suggests that Pictus Cats will more than likely eat Otos due to their size. Is there a larger eater of diatoms that I could use? (Can't do snails because I have clown loaches.)

ive had a pictus with fish before, and they only seemed to like my neons... it only ate even them if i forgot to put in a wafer for it or something... you could try an otto, but it might get eaten, try a pleco or soemthing like that
