Pl*co and Light

Okay, so i am looking at getting a bigger tank for my Pl*co. I was thinking of a 35 gallon. BUT i dont have much cash, is it really worht it to get a light for the tank, i dont have live plants. is there some kind of alternative. I am in Ontario canada.

Some people have used the blue outdoor rope lighting for a pseudo moon light. I immagine that you could pick up a white string of that stuff for pretty cheap, and it would illuminate it enough so that you can see your pal.....
