How do I tell if my dalmation molly is pregnant or even female. It's just pretty poofy in the underparts and its not overfed or swallowing air...?

Fish do not balloon up from swallowing air. IF your female have alot of girth underneath here and is pretty big and round she is Pregnant. Give her plenty of cover, plants to hide in and plenty of food and she should be fine.
here is a picture of a very pregnant molly.

You can tell if a molly is female or not buy the shape of the anal in. A female will have a tringular shaped anal fin. A male will have a tube-like gonadopodium.

like a rounded triangle?

Fish can swallow air if they eat at the top alot, I don't know if it happens to mollies, but it has happened to me, well my fish lol, it was a two-spot guarami a while back.

hey Alex, I just realized you live in florida. If you want Mollies, just get yourself a dip net and catch some wild green Sailfin mollies, Poecilia latipinna. :) they live naturallythere. I am sure you pay about $2-3 for a molly when you can probably get some incredible Sailfins for free. :D

Actually I work at an lfs and get 40% off, but I really don't want a green molly, even if it is free, I got the orange ones because they make a nice contrast with my live plants.

Hey alex, I just realized you have Balas for a 45. I will let you know those guys will outgrow that tank pretty fast.

As for the wiild form Green, well I think they are a spectaclar fish. Just look at the finage of the male in the picture above, amazing brillance.

That is pretty insane, do you know where I could get them in florida, I'm guessing the larger lakes.

And the bala's, I know, I have plans for them when they do.

I think any drainage canals, that don't alligators in them. :D safety first.
Just try some of the small ponds or streams near you as well. There is a wealth of cool fish out there that you can catch.
Such as these following fish.
Least Killifish Heterandria formosa Smallest live bearer, my favorite fish
Bluefin Killie Lucania goodei A great little fish that is a schooler like Zebra danios or White clouds.
Golden Topminnow Fundulus chrysotus -: a gorgous brightly golden fish.
Pygmy Sunfish These guys are under 2 inches.
Mosquito fish: Gambusia affinis holbrooki agressive fish but fun, look like larger female guppies.
Florida Flag fish Jordanella floridae these guys are in big demand up here and they sell for about $5 a piece.
I Google these names and check them out. :)
