i went to the lfs today to look at a 10 gal to put my guppy fry in and the price for just the tank was $18.95! :thud: i went to walmart 4 blocks away and the same exact tank was $8.99. How can a store stay in business with high prices like that? (i also think its funny that the fish tanks in the store are older than me, with wonderful gold metalic, green, orange, & blue gravel)

Many of us will shop in comparatively overpriced LFS if they're good stores w/ a good fish selection in order to "fight the machine". Otherwise the only places that sell fish will be Walmarts, Petcos, Petsmarts....etc, and that would severely limit the availability of different kinds of fish.

from my experience with tanks carried by fish stores and walmarts the fishstore brand name tanks like allglass and such are a better grade than the walmart tanks.
each of the glass tanks I've gotten or know came from wallmart have some visual imperfection that while not interfearing with the function doesn't endear me to those tanks. things like the silicone beed not being concise or the top plastic isn't level all the way around, tank still holds water but isn't very atractive.
