i found a good sized crayfish today and put him in my 55g aquarium, after several hours he still just ignores the fish and runs laps around the tank and acts like he wants out, does this mean anything specifically other than he wants out or will he calm down, will it eat freeze dried krull shrimp, so far it ignores everything and runs laps, what else around the house could i feed it, just dont say vegies cuz i dont keep those

its raining out so he was wondering around outside where i work, i suspect it was looking for a mate since spring is bout the only time i ever see them walking around on the ground

maybe he's disoriented due to the weather changing.... is there a pond or something he might belong to around there? He may not eat anything ever because of being taken from the wild and being placed in a controlled setting (your tank) that doesn't have the space he's used to. The kril might work if you plan on keeping him.... or slow moving smaller fish.

theres no pond near, it likely crawled out of the mud from all the recent rain, perhaps mating season but its certainly very active, i think they only feed at night so hope it will take to its new home, but how might i tell if its eating or not, the cory's and danios are likely too fast for it, what else can i put in the tank..how bout bread or cooked meat, corn?

since its spring just go get him some frog eggs. he should eat those and probably the tadpols to when they hatch

i am betting you will wake to find your cories dismembered someday. where about in the country do you live? here in the NW crawfish are somewhat sparse.

from indiana, there tons of em around and walk about alot during the rain, i work construction so i see thier holes in mud everywhere, so far he seems to ignore the fish but i think its eating the krull shrimp i put in there since the other fish wont touch it and i dont see any left, but it is aweful active for soemthing thats suppose to be lazy during the day, dont know much about them so not sure what all it needs to be happy, perhaps a bigger cave
