Weighting Driftwood

I have just found a large piece of driftwood for my 65g aquarium. I soaked and cleaned it and it is currently sitting in the bath full of hot water. The leeching of tannins has pretty much stopped and now i must anchor the wood into the tank until it becomes waterlogged and sinks itself. I can drill 3 holes and place some deep sea fishing sinkers into them which would easily give the sufficiant weight to sink it, however, the sinkers are lead. I am unsure as to how the lead will affect the fish in the tank (I am aware of the extreme toxicity to humans). My other option is flat rocks tied to the wood with fishing line, but the first option would be preferable for looks sake.

Cheers.

have you thought about sticking it in place with silicone?
I don't know about lead but every plant book i have read says to remove lead plant weights. I never use it just in case
just my .02

You can get a thin piece of slate, drill it and use a stainless steel screw to secure it to the driftwood, then use your substrate to keep it anchored.
