breeding neon tetras??

just noticed one of my 14 neon tetras is bloated.. could it be filled with eggs??? what do i do?? My tank is painted black as background and in a not so bright room. besides that I put in some indian almond leaves which made the water tea colored. I have read in an article somewhere that these are the conditions to make neons breed.

Has anyone successfully breed them?? what will happen if i left her alone. I'm not sure I have time taking care of the fries. help!!!

Thats not true i had my neons breed twice now and even though one of the adults died 2 of the fry are 2 of my 4 that i still have... it was unexpected but i still made it work. i would leave her in there but just keep on eye on her and make sure there are tonns of hiding spots for the fry i doubt many will survive but do what you can and keep me posted!
 
bad news... the bloated neon died. I suspect the corys picked on her. since she was swimming kinda slow being bloated and all.

i noticed another one of the neon tetra is bloated also. this time i separated her from the community tank. since i dont have a spare tank.. i put her in a glass bowl.. im planning a water change everyday from the main tank. and hope she wont end up like the first one.
 
Did you check whether there are eggs inside the dead fish?

lol i guess but they have bred twice now.. so i think its gonna be happening more frequently.
 
Bloating can also be a sign of illness, you might want to do a search on that and make sure its not sick! Double check your water conditions if you haven't already! Just a suggestions ;)
 
since this thread has to do with neons.....well I was wondering how you tell which of your neon tetras are male or female ????? ome of 2 of my neons have this little bumb thing at the bottom of his belly....does that mean anything ?
