so i want to upgrade my lighting in my tank, but i dont wanna spend hundreds of dollars. i have a 20 long tank, and in my hood is a 24" eclipse bulb (its 24" from metal tip to metal tip if thats how your supposed to measure it). my question is if i get something like this bulb will it work with my hood? what does V.H.O. stand for?

TIA

Very high output

As for that light, odds are it won't work for you because I highly doubt you have a ballast capable of that kind of output currently in your hood.

You best bet is more likely to shop for a Freshwater Coralife hood on Ebay or Bigalsonline (some would also recommend a Jebo and swapping out the bulbs) or go to ahsupply.com and retrofit your current light fixture with a new ballast, bulb and reflector.

edit: You might even be able to get away with shop lights and hang them over your hood, although I personally choose not to go that route.
