are any of these fish nippy

could they do any damage though, nipping happens with almost all fish but these ones have chunks torn off there rear fins.

I am more concerned that you even bought RummyNose. This is an extremely difficult fish to keep which should only be purchased by very expereinced aquarists. They are very suceptable to ich and do not tolerate medication well. It is very unlikely that you will be successful keeping them in a community environment due to the hightened stress levels. I would suggest you return the fish if possible. I'm not real happy with the LFS selling them to you without fair warning of their difficulty, so you may make mention of your unhappiness to the owner.

The rummy-nose tetra is an excellent fish for the community tank once it is adjusted to its surroundings, but this initial adaptive phase can be a bit longer than for some fish. In the meantime, it tends to be sensitive to water quality, so test this frequently. It does not take well to addition of salt and many chemical additives, and pH fluctuations can kill it. It must be kept with at least 3 members of its own species, or else it will sulk in the corner and show signs of stress. Healthy species will adapt eventually to a well-planted tank and school actively in and out of every corner of the aquarium, their noses glowing brightly.

i have only had one fish die on me and that wa before my tank cycled. Since then i have not had one fish die. I may be new to fish keeping but i am an expert in water, i have worked with hydroponics for so long alot of things are second nature to me. either way they are already schooling together there noses are bright and they seem like they are doing fine (they are in a group of 6) i am sure they will be happy in this tank as the tank is cycled and frequently changed
