Ive been thinking about how i want my tank to end up, and i was thinking this:

right now i have a mystery snail, and 4 pygmy corys. Eventually i want to add maybe a dwarf gourami, and a small school of neons, or maybe white clouds instead of neons. Any suggestions? Im just looking for something livley and colorfull that will work well in a planted tank with my corys and the snail. Also, my ph is about 7.5. Should i lower it with one of the "just right ph 7.0" packets or alike, or is 7.4 okay for a planted community? Im using a 100% seachem onyx sand substrate, which has a buffering capacity. Corys and snail seem to be loving it. Any suggestions?

1) pH wise, you're fine. Don't bother messing with it. WAY more trouble than it's worth.

2) for a ten gallon, you're not going to be able to have the cories, gourami, and tetras in that same 10g. Cories and tetras would be good, and wouldn't overload your tank as tetras are quite light on the bio-load. Just make sure you're willing to keep up with the increased tank maintenance.

Cories might get picked on by a gourami, so keep that in mind. The white cloud minnows prefer colder water, like goldfish and koi.

3) I've had good luck with seachem flourish tabs and liquid, and DIY CO2 on my 10g. Haven't ever used sand with plants personally, but I've been wanting to try. Good luck!

My 10 gallon has 9 plants, 3 harlequin rasboras, 3 red zebra danios, 1 otocinclus, and 1 male betta. My pygmy corys arrive this week. All the fish (so far) get along very well. Everyone is eating, have places to hide, like the substrate, they all live within the same temperature range, etc. I do a 20 to 30% water change each week. My red zebra danios are also known as glofish and they are colorful and VERY lively! They swim in all levels of the tank and are lots of fun to watch. I am not familiar with tetras, sorry. I am setting up a 37 gallon and plan to put my gouramis in there. Good luck!

hmm.. ive been looking at glofish too. A small school would be nice. I really kinda want a very colorful centerpeice fish, like the dwarf gourami, but i guess if thats too much , 1 ir 2 small schools would work too. Any other ideas on what an be put in a 10 gal planted with pygmy corys and a snail?

I'm planning on getting two platies and a male betta for my 10 gal that already has 3 cories. I'm hoping the betta won't be aggressive towards the other fish...
