Run on Zithromax...

Zithro doesnt do much for me. I have tried it a couple of times with very little results. I just got over a nasty bug that kept me home for 2 weeks. I have never stayed home for more than 3 days due to illness. There are some nasty bugs going around.
It is a great drug...if there is any such thing. My son has used it to treat ear infections when numerous other drugs failed and my husband has taken it for pneumonia on a few occasions. Cleared everything up in a snap.
From what I understand, for some people it works great and others, like myself, it does not. If you have been on it for 4 days ( which I think is all you need to be) you should be feeling better by now. Not well, but better :sick:

Im taking it right now. Its crap. And the aftertaste kills ya. I have to take it along with my puffer. (Dubble yuck),

Guess it might help with breathing, but it's not really noticeable. I'm on that too. It's not as bad as I thought the taste would be.
The fever part is over for now (I hope), so maybe I can get busy again. This bug really slows one down.

Zithromax is one of the newer generation of antibiotics. For now, there isn't much that is resistant to it of a bacterial nature. Part of the med is a componet that makes the antibiotic stay in your system and work longer instead of being cleared out of your system right away.
Antibiotics don't work on viruses....and it's hard to tell the difference in symptoms some times, and then you have situations where the virus attacks, and runs your system down and the bacteria takes over. :sick:
There are a lot of bacteria out there that have become resistant to antibiotics. There are bacteria that cause resistant infections that used to only be found in patients that were hospitalized, and now these infections are running around out there in the community. This is not a good situation and that is why doctors are limiting to whom they give antibiotics. The hope is that they will keep developing new meds to fight infections as the bacteria develop tolerance to the old stand-bys.
There is nasty respiratory crud out there this winter for sure. My mom had a temp of 105....not 100.5, 105. She was in the hospital for several days..and then my dad and I got it, just not as sick as her. It really zaps people that already have respiratory problems..like asthma..or other medical conditions.

My daughters and I all just finished a run on Augmentin. They have ear infections and I had a sinus infection... the last two months have been horrible in my house! Just one thing after the next and none of us seem to ever get totally well!
